Lazy8 Ledger is a very simple yet powerful
accounting program designed for people who have
experience in bookkeeping. It is a plugin for
jEdit. You can enter any type of bookkeeping
activity and break out the activities to any
number of accounts. There are numerous standard
reports that are the basis of accounting needs
and then there are tools to make your own
reports. Furthermore, it is Unicode-compatible in
all respects.

A bug where importing a CSV chart of accounts
didn't work was fixed, and import/export CSV
account types were added. An option to allow
transaction ID numbers to start at one for each
accounting period was added. New advanced menus
for editing all the report definitions were added.
Bugs in the "first time startup" routines were
fixed. A bug where the first time startup
routine's "default help window width" didn't work
was fixed. A bug where the read message in the
transaction screen came up too often was fixed.

Lazy 8 Ledger was changed to be compatible with
jEdit 4.2. Lazy 8 Ledger can no longer be run with
a jEdit version 4.1 or less. Some window
properties could not be saved, and were lost when
turning off the program. This has been fixed. A
nice link to a bookkeeping tutorial was added.
Lots of very minor changes were made everywhere,
both in the documentation and in the program.

Several new reports were added. The way that
customers and projects are referenced was
redesigned. The ability to customize the account
types was added, which makes the program more
adaptable to different countries. A new
communication system was added between all the
windows, so that when data in one window is
updated, all the other windows are automatically
updated. Previously, a restart of the program was
required to update all windows. Many other minor
feature changes and documentation changes were
made.

Many requested that it be possible to leave the invoice date in the transaction input screen from the previous entry so that they wouldn't have to type in the date every time. It is done and it is an option.
